Day 4: Components
I listed down every component I need to add to the design for the project, and I’ll give you a very short reason for the requirement for as many components as possible. It will all be in multiples of 2 because I am building 2 robots that work alongside each other to carry one car. So here’s the list:
1) 2x Raspberry Pi 4 Model B → It’s the brain of the robot, the single board computer (SBC) that helps with computer vision, navigation, sensor data and more
2) 2x Raspberry Pi Pico W → It’s used for direct hardware interaction, such as motor control
3) 2x IMU (BNO055) → Used for understanding balance and direction in which the robot is supposed to move
4) 8x Shafts → Placed at the arm pivot, for rotational movement
5) 16x Ball Bearings → Used to enable smooth rotation and reduce friction for the arms of the robot
6) 16x Pivot Mounting Blocks and 16x Axial retainers → Between which the whole arm mechanism is contained for prevention of shaft sliding and support
7) Thrust washers → To reduce friction at hinge
8) 2x Raspberry Pi Camera Modules → For visual input, helpful with navigation and understanding of its whereabouts
9) 8x Motor encoders → For odometry and PID control
10) 8x VL53L0X ToF Sensors → Precise positioning of the robot and omnidirectional collision avoidance
11) 2x NRF24L01 Modules → Required for communication between the two robots
12) 2x LiPo Battery Pack → Main power source for each robot
Additionally, there are requirements for motors, wheels, chassis, rollers, caster wheels and more which have been discussed in previous days; hence, I haven’t mentioned them here. I will list them out below:

8x N20 geared motors
8x 60mm diameter Mecanum wheels
24x roller wheels
8x Ball caster wheels
8x 3D Printed Extended arms
8x Linear Actuators
8x Linear Actuator Motor Drivers
Finally, there are also requirements such as soldering equipment, electric tape, different types of wires and other essentials for finishing this project. I’ll see you guys again tomorrow, and that’s a wrap for day 4.
